The short version
Reddie is a tool that helps you find customers, track brand mentions, and manage your presence on Reddit. To do that, we store the email address you sign up with, the Reddit account you connect, the keywords and subreddits you ask us to watch, and the Reddit posts and mentions we surface for you. We use a small number of third-party services (Reddit, our email provider) to make the product work. We do not sell your data.
1. Who we are
"Reddie", "we", "us", and "our" refer to the operator of the Reddie service available at reddie.app. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at info@reddie.app.
2. What we collect
We collect only what we need to run the product:
Account information
- Email address — used to sign in, send notifications, and contact you about your account.
- Password — stored only as a one-way hash (bcrypt). We can never see your password in plaintext.
Reddit account data
When you connect a Reddit account via OAuth, Reddit sends us:
- Your Reddit username
- An access token and a refresh token, used to read posts, search subreddits, and (only with your permission) post or comment on your behalf
We never receive your Reddit password. You can revoke Reddie's access at any time from your Reddit app preferences, which immediately disconnects your account from Reddie.
Product data
- Tracked queries — the keywords and competitor names you ask us to monitor.
- Subreddits — the communities you've added to your watchlist or that the system has suggested.
- Mentions and opportunities — Reddit posts and comments that match your queries or signals, along with our scoring metadata.
- Activity timestamps — last login, last dashboard view, and similar usage timestamps used to power the "since your last visit" feed and email digests.
Technical data
- Session cookies — a single PHP session cookie used to keep you signed in. We do not use third-party tracking or advertising cookies.
- Server logs — standard web-server logs (IP address, user agent, request timestamps) retained briefly for security and debugging.
3. How we use your data
- To provide the core product — searching Reddit, tracking mentions, and surfacing opportunities.
- To send notifications you've enabled (e.g. daily opportunity emails, mention alerts).
- To secure your account and detect abuse.
- To improve Reddie based on aggregate usage patterns. We do not use your private data to train AI models.
4. Who we share it with
We share data only with the third parties needed to run the service:
- Reddit, Inc. — when you authorize Reddie via OAuth, we make API requests to Reddit on your behalf. Reddit's own privacy policy applies to data they receive directly. See reddit.com/policies/privacy-policy.
- Resend — our transactional email provider, used to deliver notification emails. See Resend's privacy policy.
- Hosting provider — the servers running Reddie are operated in the United States. Server logs and database backups live with our hosting provider.
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We will only disclose data when required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Reddie, our users, or the public.
5. Posting on Reddit
Reddie can post or comment on Reddit on your behalf, but only when you explicitly trigger an action in the app. We do not post automatically without your consent. Anything you post through Reddie is governed by Reddit's own content rules and is publicly visible on Reddit.
6. Data retention
- Account data — retained while your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your account record, password hash, and Reddit tokens. Aggregated, non-identifiable usage statistics may be retained.
- Mentions, opportunities, and activity — retained as long as your account is active so historical context is available in the product. Deleted with your account.
- Server logs — typically retained for 30 days.
7. Your rights
You can:
- Access the data we hold on you — most of it is visible in the dashboard; for anything that isn't, email us.
- Correct inaccurate data — email us if something looks wrong.
- Export your data — email us for a copy of the records we hold.
- Delete your account and associated data — email us and we'll process the deletion within a reasonable time.
- Disconnect Reddit at any time from your Reddit account preferences, which immediately revokes our access.
If you are in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. Contact us at info@reddie.app to exercise any of these rights.
8. Security
We protect your data with industry-standard practices: HTTPS for all traffic, bcrypt password hashing, encrypted Reddit tokens at rest where supported, and access controls on our database. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce risk and will notify affected users if a breach occurs.
9. Children
Reddie is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. International users
Reddie is operated from the United States. By using Reddie, you consent to your data being processed in the United States, which may have different data-protection laws than your country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Reddie evolves. If a change is material, we'll notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The "Effective" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version.
